Day-by-day
Day 1
Lake Manyara or Tarangire National Park
Pick up from your hotel at 8am and travel across the Great Rift Valley for a full-day game drive in Lake Manyara National Park — famous for its lush acacia forest, tree-climbing lions, flamingos, hippos, baboons and blue monkeys — or, depending on the season, Tarangire National Park with its giant baobabs and huge elephant herds. In the afternoon, continue to your camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, depart towards the most famous national park in the world, the Serengeti. Drive up the crater highlands, making a quick stop at the rim for an out-of-this-world view of Ngorongoro Crater. As you progress into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means 'endless plains'. It is the home of the Great Migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and all kinds of antelopes. For big cats and large predators, it's the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas. Optional stop at Olduvai Gorge en route.
Day 3
Serengeti National Park
A full day in the Serengeti, organized according to your wishes. Do a morning game drive, return to camp for lunch and relaxation and finish with an afternoon game drive — or head out for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch among more than 500 species of birds, smaller mammals like mongoose, honey badgers and jackals, and the resident big cats.
Day 4
Serengeti to Ngorongoro
A very early wake-up for a morning game drive (when the animals are most active) and one of the best sunrises you'll ever witness. After a rewarding brunch, proceed to Ngorongoro, the 8th wonder of the natural world. The crater spreads for 102 sq. miles with 2,000 ft high walls, inhabiting almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa, including the black rhino and some of the largest-tusked elephants in the world. You will reach Ngorongoro in time for a sundowner.
Day 5
Ngorongoro Crater
Start very early and descend into the crater floor for an incredible morning of wildlife in one of the most stunning places on Earth. After the game drive, enjoy a picnic lunch near the beautiful hippo lake, then a short game drive before ascending the crater and exiting the Conservation Area towards Arusha. We expect to be back in Arusha around 5pm, though we remain flexible in case there is a flight to catch.
