A Few Honest Words
Train for the long days.
You don't need to be an athlete, but you do need stamina. 6+ hours of hiking, day after day, at altitude. Start walking now.
Acclimatize properly.
We strongly recommend 7-8 day itineraries. The extra day on the mountain raises your summit chances by ~20%.
Pack lighter than you think.
We provide a detailed gear list 60 days out. Most climbers over-pack. A pair of broken-in boots matters more than a fancy jacket.
Listen to your guide.
If they say slow down — slow down. Pole pole (slowly, slowly) is the only way up.
